What this book is

One purpose, and no pressure.

By the time you reach the last page, you will understand what AI is, how the two most important kinds of AI work, and how everyday people are using these tools to earn a little extra income.

You will be equipped to make your own informed decision, calmly and without pressure. Nothing in the book asks you to spend money or sign up for anything. It exists to inform and to teach. If you can send a text message or type a search into Google, you already have every skill required to begin.

If the words "artificial intelligence" make you feel a little uneasy or a little behind, you are in exactly the right place. This book was written for people who have built careers, raised families, and lived full lives, and who are now hearing the term everywhere and wondering what it all means.

What you will learn

Built gently, one step at a time.

  • What AI actually is, in plain terms, and how it learns from examples rather than rigid rules.
  • The difference between generative AI, the kind that creates, and agentic AI, the kind that does.
  • How to let go of the fear, and how to tell a real concern from an overblown one.
  • A friendly tour of today's most popular tools, and how to try one for free.
  • How to have your first real conversation with an AI, walked through step by step.
  • Honest, realistic ways everyday people are earning a little extra income.
  • How to find the one path that fits your own life, and a simple first month plan.
  • How to protect yourself from the scams and hype that surround anything new.

Who it is for

Written for people the rest of the internet skips.

Most of what is written about AI is aimed at the young and the tech savvy. This book is for the rest of us. It is for the person who has heard "AI" on the evening news and at the dinner table and quietly wondered whether it is too late to understand it.

It is not too late. The technology is young, the door is wide open, and you are not behind. You bring a lifetime of judgment to the table, and that is the one thing these tools cannot supply on their own.

About the author

Rocky Stephens

Rocky Stephens spent more than forty five years in food service management, building a career through hard work, responsibility, leadership, and service to others. After decades in a familiar industry, he found himself facing a future that was changing quickly, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence.

Rather than step back and hope to simply make it through the years ahead, Rocky made a decision. He would learn AI, embrace the future, and become part of the change instead of being left behind by it. His mission is to keep learning, grow with the changing world, and help others in a similar position do the same.
